Yesterday I went out to do a little shopping and was amazed at a T-shirt I saw. Two images were on it. One of George HW Bush, and the other of George W. Bush. Under the picture of HW was the word "Dumb", and, you guessed it, under W was "Dumber". It never ceases to amaze me that the most ignorant among us who could never even run a small patch of dirt let alone a nation always have the worst opinions.
Ok so lets have a little Bible lesson. Romans 13 deals with how we should react and respond to the government. Here is what it says. Romans 13:1-Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities, For there is no authority except from God and those which exist are established by God. (so much for a stolen election) 2. Therefore whoever resist authority has opposed the ordinance of God, and they who have opposed will receive the condemnation upon themselves ( how about a little greek lesson , there are two terms for condemnation used in this text 1. kataginosko- which means to judge something to be bad the other is autokatakrios -pertaining to one who is condemned as a result of his own actions, that such a man is twisted and sinful, being condemned by what he himself has done)3. For rulers (now
don't get your nickers tied in a knot, at the time the Bible was written they were emperors etc. today they are presidents congressmen, senators etc.) are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same. 4. For it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid for it does not bear the sword ( another nicker knot tied term, today the police carry 36 caliber peacemakers, not swords) for nothing, for it is a minister of God who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection not only because of wrath but also for conscience sake ( Greek again; the word for wrath is Thumos indicates intense anger, with implications of passionate outburst. Also it is necessary to translate this word with the idea that this is God's anger ie: God will be furious and angry against such people. The fury and anger of God is generally interpreted in terms of divine retribution and punishment.) 6. For because of this you pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. 7. Render to all what is due them, tax to whom tax is due, custom to whom custom, fear to whom fear, and honor to whom honor.
God will not be mocked, as you sow so shall you reap.
